Functional grammar is not an easy subject to grasp for most teachers of a second or foreign language. It is a form of grammatical description originated by Michael Halliday who firmly believes that language is a network of interrelated sets of options for making meaning and that grammar is described as systems not as rules, on the basis that every grammatical structure involves a choice from a describable set of options. Therefore, we certainly welcome any effort to make such a difficult subject easily accessible to those who need it as the basis for implementing the concepts and principles in their daily, professional endevors.
